Christmas Greetings

Christmas greetings to all from Spencer Print & Talking Product videos. This Talking Product Video message features an assortment of characters, including a moaning mop, a busy saucepan, a lorry, a puffy cat, and a rebellious glove puppet.

Part of the video is dedicated to the Republic of Ireland football squad, who were so shamelessly treated by FIFA & it's moronic president Sepp Blatter. The days of sportsmanship & decency in football have gone forever, oh for the good old days!

A moment of solitude & peace leading to a connection with Mother Earth

I've had an awful bug the last couple of says, my ears feel like their going to blow up & even the wind blowing sounds like a hurricane. I somehow managed to resist the urge to go back to bed with some aspirins. I achingly stepped out of my pyjamas & dressing gown, put my clothes on, & decided to take my 2 dogs for a walk, to get some fresh air. Luckily I run my business from home in the heart of beautiful Herefordshire, & I am only a 5 minute walk from the River Wye.

On this outing, I paused on a bank high up with a breathtaking view of the River Wye & all it's glory. I closed my eyes for what seemed ages and taking deep breaths, I took in the sounds of nature, the birds singing, the insects chirping, the movement of the grass below my feet, & the wind brushing against my face. It was as though nature had taken the time out to breathe on my face, the wind was so invigorating. I then started to sense the Earth as a living force. I was reminded that the Earth is very much alive, how often, due to the stressful lives, we in the West do not take the time to sense this energy, in a moment of tranquillity and peace. We do not take the time to feel our connection with Mother Earth and Nature. Maybe we should all take the time to rediscover this magical bond that so many indigenous people share with Mother Earth. Think for instance of all the trees there, how old they are, & the memories and feelings that they have absorbed during the centuries. We are all energy fields, so it stands to reason that all this greenery must be alive.

In 1966, Cleve Backster performed an experiment that should have revolutionised the way we think about plant consciousness. He rigged a dracena cane plant (above) up to a polygraph test in order to work out its rate of water consumption however, the result was not as expected. The results of the polygraph test showed a much more human like response. A lie detector is used on a person in such a way that when they detect a threat to their well-being they produce a physiological response. The concept behind them is that they stress human thinking and emotional reactions. When Backster even thought about setting alight to a leaf of his plant he found the following reaction.

"Then at thirteen minutes, fifty-five seconds chart time, the imagery entered my mind of burning the leaf I was testing. I didn't verbalize, I didn't touch the plant, I didn't touch the equipment. The only new thing that could have been a stimulus for the plant was the mental image. Yet the plant went wild. The pen jumped right off the top of the chart".

From this point on Backster started a succession of experiments that he believed showed that the plant was in tune with his emotions. He could leave the plants alone for a length of time and sit in a bar, talking with friends and the polygraph test would measure the ups and downs in the conversation that Backster was experiencing.

This was not only true of Backster's emotions, when he poured boiling water down his sink, killing all of the microbe life that lived there, the plant responded, violently reacting to their deaths.

Backster reached the conclusion that the polygraph tests showed that plants have primary perception. He doesn't call it extra-sensory perception in the way that we would if a human were to exhibit signs of being able to read the emotions and intentions of those around him, as he doesn't see that plants have the basic senses in the first place.

Experiments with polygraphs have in fact been replicated by numerous academic laboratories worldwide, some of which are cited at the end of Backster's book. Since his original experiments in the 1960s, plant electrophysiology has advanced a great deal, and simplified tone-emitting devices are now commercially available which validate the concept of instantaneous bio communication, at least between plants.

This all comes back to the findings in quantum physics (as posted in my other articles on Pledging for Change) and the beliefs of indigenous people, that we are all connected, to nature, & Mother Earth.

I know I felt this connection, albeit too briefly, as I stood quietly and took in the moment. When I decided, reluctantly to go back, I felt re-vitalised and no longer felt so poorly & lethargic. We all need to find those moments, to re-connect with Mother Earth, and to appreciate her beauty, and that if we kill just a small part of her, we are killing a part of ourselves. The Mother Earth is a living energy, and she is sick at the moment. Like all living things, as survival is the driving force of nature, if we do not act to cure her ourselves, she may take the initiative, and shake off the cause of her ailments, mankind. There is so much beauty in this world, man is capable of such beauty also, it would be such a shame if we waste it all

New Environmental Initiative - Leapfrog Revolution

Leapfrog Revolution
We as a society and a species have been selfish for too long, and now we are beginning to reap the rewards. For too long we have plundered the planet with little thought of the consequences to planet Earth, and indigenous people. Religious, financial, & political institutuiions have failed us miserably in ethical issues. Politicians ignored the "Green" movement for ages, simply because, in the past, global warming was not a vote winner. The evidence of global warming is mounting and yet they still drag their heals over the issue, as USA still hasn't ratified the Kyoto Agreement.

It has become more and more evident to me that the only real people who can make a difference is you and me. Together, united, we can be a powerful voice that the politicians can't ignore!
We need to help reclaim the planet and save the lives of future generations, by bringing about radical change.

We need to call for a change in economic models, a change in environmental thinking, a change in our understanding of how we impact on one another and a shift in consciousness.
The change that's needed is not a simple progressive change that we see every day, rather it requires people and organisations to take a leap, a leap of faith to lead when the world is crying out for leadership. It requires us to leapfrog the ‘same old’ and make bold positive change for the long term sustainability of humankind, for the environment, for peace.
This involves bringing together poweful organisations that have traditionally competed with each other, for the greater good of humanity.

This initiative has been started by fellow Pledging for Change member Gary Scholz of

Experimental Paper Mill Update

Quite some time ago I posted an article about Bio Regional's Mini Mill, an experimental plant using straw to make paper.

The last update on their web site was posted in April 2009, which is as follows:-

Progress has been made in developing BRMM’s proprietary technology. During 2007-8 with the support of grant funding from the Technology Strategy Board (formerly DTI), BioRegional MiniMills has commissioned and operated a 10% scale plant to demonstrate the Company’s proprietary black liquor gasification technology at Ahlstrom’s Radcliffe Mill in Manchester.
Ahlstrom generate black liquor from their pulp mill and although this is currently safely disposed of, they are seeking a more cost effective and sustainable alternative, which is why they are hosting the plant on site.

In 2008, the technical team, led by Philip Hartwell, succeeded in demonstrating that the BRMM process can generate energy and recover chemicals from black liquor in line with theoretical models. The team is currently carrying out a seven month work programme to be completed in the Autumn of 2009. The objective is to overcome operational issues with the aim of running the black liquor process continuously for five days. This would prove the technology sufficiently to proceed to building the first full-scale plant. In January 2009 the Northwest Regional

Development Agency awarded the Company a grant for R&D to support this work.
In addition BRMM have been developing a new pulping process. A one third scale twin screw pulping unit was installed in Manchester to trial straw pulping. They are currently testing the BRMM proprietary pulping unit with wood chip in trials supported by Scottish Enterprise and
Forestry Commission Scotland.

Justice for September 11 Ground Zero Workers

Please sign my petition "Jutice for September 11 Ground Zero Workers" at Their ill treatment is a disgrace!

They were rightly labelled as heroes by the Bush administration, but certainly not treated as such. Think of all the terrible chemicals they were exposed to. For instance, the hazardous chemicals inside the electrical components of the 50,000 computers (Twin Towers alone). They were reassured by the Environmental Protection Agency that the air was safe to breathe. Now, many rescue workers have respiratory issues, and who were previously in the peak of fitness, now struggle to get up a flight of stairs. We owe it to the Ground Zero Workers, to the victims of September 11, & all citizens of planet Earth to hold a public enquiry into these matters. The world needs to address all these issues with openness & honesty & out in the open. The issue is vital on so many fronts, even civil liberty .

I have created a 4 page guide to the Talking Product Videos. The PDF explains the process and shows you what artwork to supply to get the best results. I have hosted the file on Scibd is a very useful for hosting your documents.

The downloadable link to the PDF is

I have shortened the link for posting purposes on Twitter.

The process needs enough key facial points to be able to morph the face. An example of the problems arising from not having these present in a photo is given in the PDF. It explains how the problem can be solved, & the resulting video can be seen on my web site at the following link.

The video was converted to 3gp format and was sent to journalists mobile phones. This is a great example of how a mobile phone video can really grab the attention of potential clients. Mobile phone adverts are just another marketing tool, but using"Talking Product Videos", they can really maximise the effectiveness of a mobile phone video campaign.

Robert Horne's New Range of Revive Recyled Papers

Sorry it's been a while (too long) since I last posted anything about printing, especially "Green" Printing. Apologies for that, I have been busy with Talking Product Videos, & also swamped with printing quotes.

Anyhow, Rober Horne, the paper merchants, released their new Revive range of recyled papers in March this year. Sorry, I should have posted this before.

Their range of recycled paper now has two new additions - revive pure (100% recycled fibre) and revive 25 (25% recycled fibre).

Revive pure white is the first 100% recycled paper in the market to offer a
genuine alternative to quality virgin products.

Revive 25 is a recycled option for smaller budgets.

I have used the 100% Recyled Silk recently on a clients bookamrs, & it looks pretty good, & price is good as well.

If you want more information, please go to this link on Robert Hornes web site. You candownload a PDF wallchart of the new range.

Now you have a better version of the prankster phone call, the "Talking Products" video for mobile phones.

Now you can send visual animated jokes to your friends mobile phones. Imagine your friend greeted by a mad dog, a crazy cat, or a frisky frog. Examples could be a dog promoting pet food, a car promoting a show room, or a plant promoting a garden centre.

A few more samples can be seen on my video channel on MySpace at

You can have your own video for Internet, or mobile phone, for just £45.

All you need to provide is a photo or image of the character (preferably with a closed mouth), and a text or audio file (.wav file extension) of the speech to be used.

Slides & photos can be incorporated into the video, but at extra cost.

Delivery Tips

Apologies, it's been ages since my last post. I would like to post more often but there doesn't seem to be enough time in the day lately. I am trying to launch two new projects with my colleague Karl Dixon. We are trying to produce comics for the major football clubs, & educational comics for schools to aid litereracy & reading skills. Our proposal is currently under review at Westminster by the Education Minister.

Anyhow, to the point of this new post. Whilst this applies to print, it will apply to any business. Please make sure you follow health & safety rules when you load any out going goods, or arrange to pick them up yourselves.

Below is a recent example of a client who picked up a load of flyers from one of my printer suppliers.

Another bad example showing a recyling firm who picked up some paper off cuts from a printer.

Lastly, God forbid if you have to use an animal to cellect anything, please treat it with care and also remember it's load bearing capacity.

This last picture shows a old Welsh Mining company collecting some redundancy leaflets.
